Down in Winston-Salem you’ll find Wake Forest
University School of Law, a long standing beacon for
legal education in North Carolina.   Founded in 1894, it
offers a good, solid legal education with excellent
career prospects available once you have graduated.
It is extremely difficult to get into Wake Forest University
School of Law, due to the relatively small acceptance
capacity of the school of 600 students.   When the fact
that the applications number over 4,000 each year is
taken into account, it is easy to see why the school is
viewed as one of the most selective in the country.
Expected grades are high, with LSAT at the median of
161-165, and GPA at 3.19-3.71.

What distinguishes Wake Forest University School of
Law from many other law schools are the comparatively
low costs of tuition and living expenses.   Fees for
tuition work out at just over $30,000.   Add to this the
low cost of living in the area, and you have a law
education experience that is seen by many of the
students to be extremely good value for money.   What’
s more, 15% of the students receive a full grant for
tuition.

When the bar exams come around, over 92% of the
graduates pass first time.   This is a very high number,
and fares well against other North Carolina schools.
And within nine months of leaving Wake, a very
respectable 95% of graduates receive job offers, well
over half in the private sector.   These graduates in
particular do well out of attending Wake Forest
University School of Law, receiving first year salaries,
on average, of $85,000.
One thing that must be taken into consideration when
applying to Wake Forest University School of Law is
that it is a very small law school.   This is no city school,
and students must not expect a city lifestyle when they
apply.   Saying that, as regards academic study, it is the
perfect setting for quiet academic pursuits.   The
professors at Wake are ranked as some of the best in
the country.   Small class sizes also mean close
attention from these high calibre teachers, and that can
only be a good thing when you’re trying to achieve such
a demanding degree as the Juris Doctorate.
While the school has no real clinical program to speak
of, those students who wish to excel in the area of
litigation would do well to consider Wake Forest
University School of Law.  It has one of the highest
ranked litigation programs in the country, and this
makes it a very relevant and contemporary school in
which to study.
