Nashville isn’t all about country music.   Nestled deep in
Stetson and steel guitar country is one of the finest law
schools in the United States.   Vanderbilt School of Law
has built up a solid reputation for academic rigour since
its inception in 1874, and now ranks well within the top
twenty schools in the country for legal education.
Vanderbilt Law currently has over 600 students
enrolled all of which can expect career success if they
earn a degree from this fantastic school.   The school
has a phenomenal bar pass rate of 97.8%

Like a lot of the major law schools in the country, to say
it is highly selective is an understatement.   Over 4000
applications are received every year from would-be
lawyers.   These students can expect a challenging
admission standard, with median LSAT scores for the
class of 2007 standing at a very high 167.

What is interesting, however, about Vanderbilt School
of Law, is that the selection of students is not entirely
based on such high calibre LSAT scoring.   The school
likes to believe it encourages diversity among its
student body, and anyone with a high LSAT score and
an ability to display a background that shows diversity,
be it ethnic, national or the work experience they have
accrued, will find themselves being looked on
favourably at selection.

Quality, as always, does not come cheap, and anyone
starting their studies at Vanderbilt School of Law will
find themselves facing a close to $60,000 bill once they
have finally graduated.   But, as with most high end
schools, the career options afterwards more than make
up for any financial discomfort.

There is plenty to see and do both on campus and off.
Downtown Nashville, while offering, as you would
expect, plenty of music venues, also houses a number
of good restaurants and bars.   Housing is not as costly
as you might think; compared to some of the cities the
other big law schools are in.

Finally, career options at Vanderbilt School of Law are
as rewarding as they are at the top ten schools, with
hard-working students leaving with great career
prospects.   Over 500 employers visited the campus in
2007.   Students generally agree that the career office
serves them well, with nearly 95% of graduates finding
employment in just a few months once they leave.
