The University of Minnesota Law School boasts one
very special feature that appeals to all applicants for a
law degree.   Amazingly, 99% of graduates find
employment within nine months of graduation.   This
alone makes The University of Minnesota Law School a
definite place to think about when applying for your law
degree.

Added to this is the fact that the school contains one of
the most impressive law libraries in the United States,
and the comprehensive and much respected clinical
program. Thus, you have a school that has plenty to
offer.

The University of Minnesota Law School seeks
extremely well-qualified candidates.   In the 2007 class
for entry, there were only 259 seats, while a massive
2,700 applied.   The median LSAT score for applicants
was 165.   A high-calibre school thus, and one viewed
as offering one of the best legal educations in the
country.

The University of Minnesota Law School also, like many
of the top-rank institutions, values diversity among its
undergraduate students.   When writing the personal
statement section of their application, candidates who
don’t quite match up to the high expectations of the
school academically, may want to think about any
diversity they can offer instead.   Doing this can even
out the admissions situation if your scores aren’t quite
good enough.      The University of Minnesota Law
School also makes it very clear in the personal
statement request that it wants candidates to outline in
detail why they want to study at the school.   This kind
of request, alongside the diversity issue, hints at the
school’s openness to candidates, even if the numbers
don’t add up.

People who live in the local area can look forward to a
substantial discount in fees too.   All undergraduates
are given a laptop, and more monetary support comes
in the form of scholarships, with nearly half an entering
class receiving the equivalent of up to full fees every
year.

So, what is the academic quality actually like?   The
faculty is one of the most respected in the country, with
many recognised academics in situ at UMLS.   Not only
are they highly respected as regards their
qualifications, students find them very approachable
and supportive.   Their law library, stocked with over a
million volumes, is open twenty four hours a day.   And
the aforementioned clinical programs offer a highly
diverse educational experience that stands undergrads
in good stead when they got to practice.
