Situated in downtown Chicago, De Paul University
College of Law has a distinguished reputation and a
notable and focused approach to teaching law.   With a
group of esteemed professors and a real sense of
academic rigour permeating the faculty, it is an
extremely viable option for those wanting to study the
law in the Mid West.

When it comes to tuition fees, they come in at around
$33,000, which is not an especially difficult sum to
manage when compared with the growing number of law
schools at 40k plus, and is also relatively low when
compared to other, similarly ranked schools.
Unfortunately, accommodation in the area is costly, and
leads to many students seeking financial aid.   De Paul
University College of Law does offer a good amount of
financial support, so the cost of tuition and board is
offset somewhat.

As a mark of the quality of the tuition at De Paul, 87% of
the students in their final year pass the bar exam.   And
as regards to what happens afterwards, 90% of the
graduates are working nine months after leaving the
school.   Salaries are pleasing, with the private sector
attorneys taking in an average of $65,000, and those
working in the public sector nearing $50,000.

De Paul University College of Law does well for
Healthcare Law, averaging at 14th in the country for the
quality of its education in this area.   Another area it
does well in is Intellectual Property Law, a field in which it
has garnered a highly respectable reputation.
Because it is to be found in the same city as two other
highly regarded legal schools – The University of
Chicago and Northwestern – it would be easy to expect
that De Paul lags behind in academic quality.  This is not
the case.   Perhaps it is the city itself that attracts top
academics.   Whatever it is, a lot of them work at DePaul
University College of Law.

With the frenetic pace of Chicago as a backdrop, and
enough off-timetable pursuits to entertain even the most
dedicated party-goers, DePaul has lots to offer a law
student, and is definitely worth investigating if you are
going to study in this part of the country.
